GENERAL PHYSIOTHERAPY
General Rehabilitation
General rehabilitation supports people experiencing reduced strength, balance, mobility, endurance or confidence following illness, injury, surgery, hospitalisation, falls or a period of inactivity. Treatment is individualised and directed toward restoring or maintaining function, reducing falls risk and helping you return to the everyday activities that matter most.
INDIVIDUALISED REHABILITATION
Physiotherapy tailored to your needs
Functional decline can affect strength, balance, walking, transfers, endurance, confidence and the ability to complete everyday activities.
Physiotherapy begins with a detailed assessment of your movement, physical capacity, symptoms, environment, priorities and goals. Treatment may focus on rebuilding strength and endurance, improving mobility and balance, reducing falls risk, managing pain and developing practical strategies for greater independence at home and in the community.
TREATMENT & REHABILITATION
General rehabilitation may include
Comprehensive Assessment
Assessment of movement, strength, joint range, balance, walking, transfers, endurance, pain and the impact of physical limitations on everyday activities.
Balance & falls prevention
Task-specific balance practice, falls-risk management and strategies to improve confidence and safety during everyday mobility.
Post-hospital & post-surgical rehabilitation
A graded rehabilitation program to rebuild function following hospitalisation, surgery, illness or injury while observing relevant medical and surgical precautions.
Equipment & home safety
Assessment and training for mobility aids, transfer strategies and practical home-based recommendations, with referral or collaboration when broader equipment or environmental assessment is required.
Strength & conditioning
Progressive strength, cardiovascular and functional exercise tailored to your current capacity, health considerations and personal goals.
Walking & mobility rehabilitation
Treatment targeting walking, transfers, stairs, endurance and the safe use of mobility aids within the home and community.
Pain & movement management
Exercise, pacing, movement strategies and hands-on treatment may be incorporated where clinically appropriate to address pain or restrictions affecting function.
Education & collaborative care
Education for clients, families and support teams, including a practical home program, self-management strategies and collaboration with the broader healthcare team where required.
