At Home Treatment and Assessment

Neurological Rehabilitation

Neurological rehabilitation is a specialized and comprehensive program designed to help individuals recover and improve their physical, cognitive, and emotional functions after experiencing injuries or conditions affecting the nervous system. This includes the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves.

Through this process, individuals can gain greater independence in daily activities that may have been affected by the disorder. The goal of neurological rehabilitation is to maximize a person’s potential for recovery or adaptation. In order to achieve these goals, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists may work together to create individualized treatment plans.

As a Physiotherapist we assess, diagnose, and treat physical conditions and functional limitations. Neurolab Physiotherapy will design individualised treatment plans, use hands-on techniques, prescribe exercises, and provide education to help our clients recover from injuries, manage pain, and improve their physical function. As physiotherapists, we also focus on preventing future problems and collaborate with other healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care.

Our role is essential in restoring and maintaining our clients’ physical well-being and overall quality of life.

Treatment and Management

At Neurolab Physiotherapy we practice a holistic approach to therapy, including elements of the following:

  1. Assessment: Upon meeting and throughout your journey, our team will complete assessments to identify and monitor any deficits or struggles that impact on your daily life.
  2. Goal Setting: Therapy needs to be specific and meaningful to you! Based on your goals, personal, rehabilitative, career, we develop a plan together that meets your needs. This plan might be aimed at improving physical function, mobility, cognition, communication, and emotional well-being.
  3. Multidisciplinary Approach: Neurological rehabilitation often involves a multidisciplinary team of health professionals who collaborate to address various aspects of your recovery. Your team may include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, neurologists, and most importantly your cherished family and carers.
  4. Emotional Support: Coping with neurological challenges can be emotionally taxing. We can assist in finding appropriate supports to help you on this new life journey. Psychologists or counselors may offer support to help individuals and their families manage emotional and psychological aspects of the condition.
  5. Medication Management: In cases where medications are necessary to manage neurological symptoms, we might refer you back to your General practitioner or Specialist to receive assistance in managing your symptoms. Together we will communicate with each other to ensure whatever measures are taken have the desired effect.
  6. Assistive Devices and Home Modifications: Rehabilitation may involve recommending and providing assistive devices (e.g., wheelchairs, communication devices) and making necessary home modifications to create a safe and accessible living environment. Whilst home medications and some assistive devices might be outside of our domain as Physiotherapists, we can assist in pointing you in the right direction or referring you to Neurolab OT services.
  7. Progress Monitoring: Throughout the rehabilitation process, we will continually monitor your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed to ensure that your goals are met and sustained.
  8. Community Reintegration: Depending on your needs, we may discuss strategies to help you reintegrate into your community, return to work or school, and participate in social activities.

Our promise is to deliver exceptional, personalised holistic care.
